Arctic Blast II

Yes I realize that summer is beating on the door,and Arctic Blast isn't
exactly an accurate name, but with the tourney headed to the end, I expect
there are some people out there wanting a game to play this summer.

And this is one...

Here is the nitty gritty.

There are nine continents, with three players on each divided initially by
diety sectors with 1 mil in each, plus a severe lack of mobilty in your
units (To discourage the gimme,gimme type at the beginning!)

The continents are 180 sectors each, lots of smaller islands. Resources
are fair to good. And, of course....FAST WAR!

The following parameters have been set for this game:
World size is 128 by 64.
There can be up to 32 countries.
By default, countries use their own coordinate system.
    
An Empire time unit is 2880 seconds long.
Use the 'update' command to find out the time of the next update.
The current time is Wed May 31 21:14:42.
An update consists of 60 empire time units.
Tech Buildup is limited to logarithmic growth (base 2.05) after 1.00.In 
order to build a nuke, you need 0.50 times the tech level in research

Mid-game Updates

This game suffered an extended period of downtime due to a hacker attack on the machine unrelated to this Empire's game presence. The attack on the machine, at a local ISP, made front page news of the Seattle Times (the local paper). The attack happened sometime on or before July 5th. The Empire server eventually returned to stable status in mid-August, with the first update after the return happening on August 21st. There were no mid-game updates posted to rec.games.empire.

Game Summary

The end has finally come to Arctic Blast II!

The winners....in grand style are Zzang and Blighty!!

This game started with 30 players, 10 continents around 180 sectors
each, three players to a continent. This game saw war right after the
second update, and didn't stop!

As you can see form the power chart below, Zzang and Blighty were
pretty much unstoppable! Not that Oktoberfest didn't want to try! Dora and
Poland seemed destined to duke it out to the end (Unless the Zzang, Blighty
alliance chose to run by!)

The game had only one teensy weensy little problem.....a hacker that
almost wiped out Eskimo. But the players held on and it finished with a
bang!!

Thanks to everyone for playing and sticking with me when I thought I'd never get
everything straightened out again!! (Almost made me give up running games!, fixing
code is bad enough, but being hacked is a BITCH!)

But I will be running another game! Look for the announcement soon!
