Newbie Wars I

"Well, the first newbie game on tarl.net has ended!!!! The winner was Subway, with help from Blam and Scourge.

The game started back in mid-January. It was a 60 ETU game with 40 sector start islands. Initially, we had 23 of the 25 players who signed up break. To make things fair, I placed 30 deity mil, and 10 deity civs in the 2 islands that were supposed to be occupied. (I placed enough food so that they would never starve out...:).

The game got off to a quick start with alot of bloodshed. Palmyra, who was to hold the tech lead most of the game, dominated the power chart for the entire first half. The camps had already started to form at this point, with Palmyra/Luna allying up against Subway/Blam.

About 3 weeks later, Subway had managed to steal away the yellow jersey and pretty much ruled the air. I don't think anyone during the entire game had more planes then he did. It very close in the top 5 spots on the chart, About this time the blocs formed. Subway/Blam/Scourge against mostly everyone else.

Palymyra and nurema were the biggest obstacles, and both took weeks to take down. At one point about when this power report was taken, Subway hit Palmyra and scrapped 90% of his planes on the ground. Palmyra was actually able to put back together a fighting country and keep on going for another week...But it was not enough.
